I think we can all agreed that the news of a new Ms. Marple film featuring a 30-40 something Marple was a terrible idea. What wasn’t known at the time was that Jennifer Garner’s production company wanted to make the film with Garner starring.
Ma’am you squandered all the first season Alias goodwill when you made Elektra. I don’t care how awesome 13 Going on 30 is; it won’t make up for you playing Ms. Marple.
Looks like Agatha Christie’s estate might agree. They’re holding off on selling the rights to Disney and Garner. Cold feet? Good.
Christie was always very protective of the character and very critical of the women who played her. A quick browse of Wikipedia reveals that she would have been rather irritated with a 30-something Marple.
So bully for her estate. Here’s hoping they back out or add some stipulations to the deal that will preserve the character.
Now with that super sleuth out of the way let’s get back to being horrified at the idea of Katherine Heigl playing Stephanie Plum.
