I’m finally reading The Hunger Games. It’s pretty good. People have been set on fire and went riding around in chariots. Katniss is clever and surly and hates everyone. I’m positive I would have loved this book to no end as a tween.

A lot of people were quite upset with the pale and blond Jennifer Lawrence was cast as Katniss. In the books Katniss’s coloring plays an important role. Pale and blond people are seen as more upper class. Her dark locks and skin tone mark her as a hardy girl from a lesser ilk of people.

Now we’ve got the first shot of Lawrence as Katniss. Things to remember. This is a promo shot.

See? It’s not that bad. It’s not good though. That looks like a spray on tan. Woman is seriously orange.

But then I remember that THIS IS A PROMO SHOT and that hopefully she won’t look like a baked Brit on the coast of Spain come actual moving picture time.

In the meanwhile let’s call for the firing of the photographer, make up and touch up artist, because that photo is poorly framed and photoshopped and chica looks like me the time in high school I decided to battle cancer with a bottle tan from Clinique.
