FemPop Proved Psychic: Hathaway Is Fantine

In another example of my brilliance (and a future as a casting director) Deadline via Badass Digest has confirmed Anne Hathaway will play Fantine.

Fantine sings the Act One showstopper “I Dreamed A Dream.” Before Castle in the Clouds (fuck that song) or One More Day or anything else there is her dying and singing of everything she’s lost. Guaranteed that if you play it for a baby boomer they will start to quietly weep because of all the lost opportunities it reminds them of. Use the Patti LuPone version for extra baby boomer angst.

Hathaway is the perfect choice, and not just because I fancasted her back in June. She’s gorgeous and healthy looking and can sing. Also she can act. Also she can act and sing at the same time (something the cast of Glee fails at on a weekly basis).

FemPop is now 4 out of 5 in our Psychic Fancasting Wonderment. If Lea Michele gets picked up to play Eponine or Neil Patrick Harris for Enjolras I’ll quit FemPop and become the very first professional psychic fancaster.

Clearly not her as Fantine. As she has hair. And is healthy. And affluent.

Now, because I love you. Aforementioned LuPone in a hilarious wig (may Hathaway’s be as glorious) killing that song. Which makes sense as she originated the role.
