  • Disney and Pixar’s ‘Brave’ Answer Important Princess Vs. Bear Question

Until today I never pondered who would win in a fight, a princess or a bear, but it looks like I’ll find out when Brave comes to theaters June 22.

This third trailer is the most expansive yet and gives us a good idea of the various central conflicts of the film. There’s some mother/daughter fighting, some cute brothers side stories, some “young woman railing against societal expectations” awesomeness and not a single love interest in sight.

I can’t handle that. It is too much goodness.

Nor that I handle what looks like three different films that appear in the trailer. There’s a comedy, a bildungsroman and a mystic horror film involving a girl and a bear.

I’ve got my suspicions on what the plot is but I don’t won’t to ruin things, or look like a jackass when I’m dead wrong.

So instead I’ll ask you what YOU think will happen and then we can chat about it as we count down the days until the first female starring Pixar film.

I can’t wait I can’t wait I can’t wait! There are so many things I love in this: Pixar, strong female lead, celtic (and presumably pagan) themes. Squee :)

As far as what it’s about – I assume it’s another take on the hero(ine) quest (another thing I love). And I’m sure Pixar will breath some new life into the archetype and deliver it up fresh for us.

I have no further speculations on the plot.

But I’ve been waiting so long for Pixar to produce a movie with a female lead, I can’t wait. I really hope it’s good.

(I <3 all of their movies, but they are seriously androcentric. Srsly.)
