Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent Is Casting The Fairy Godmothers

So maybe at your college everyone decided which member of the First Wives Club they were. Or, more likely, which cast member from Sex in the City. Not my peeps! We were all about deciding who was which fairy from Sleeping Beauty.

A certain writer for this site was labelled Merryweather. If you ever have drinks with her and then attempt to bake a cake and dye a dress with her you will understand.

This new movie that’s been kicking around Hollywood for the last few years isn’t about those fairies though. Instead it is about Maleficent and how much she hates the fairies and Sleeping Beauty. The narcoleptic princess is being played by Dakota’s little sister, Elle Fanning. Sharlto Copely is attached as Stefan, but reports vary. Some cite him as the king (that works). Other sources cite him as the prince (vomit in my mouth he’s 25 years older than Fanning). Naturally Angelina Jolie is playing the secretly misunderstood evil queen who likes to turn into a dragon and beat around princess and fairies.

And now two of the fairies (who’ve apparently undergone name changes) have been announced. Yes, Imelda Staunton and Miranda Richardson are playing fairy godmothers. Yes this is pitch perfect casting.

But I still have to ask, where is mah Merryweather?
