  • Sara Gilbert And Archer’s Lana Do Talk Show Sans Make Up

I don’t wear make up very often. Largely because I love it when I do put make up on and everyone spends an hour talking about how fabulous I look like I’m in a movie and got a make over. It’s good times. Also I don’t wear make up because I am lazy and a blogger who is totally blogging this in her underwear while using her dog as a foot stool.

    So you know, I’m cool.

Sara Gilbert is cooler though. One because she is Darlene and Darlene is she. Two because she thought up a great publicity stunt for her The View-style The Talk and suggested that she and her co-hosts do the season premiere sans makeup.

And then they all agreed to do it! And they just looked like they got out of bed and I was all “hell yes, please continue to set that bar at a place that will keep people from hissing at me when I got out in public.”

They’re guests did it to and it might have been shocking to see Jamie Lee Curtis without make up but maybe not so much if you’re familiar with this little gem.

I love how she schools someone then calmly drinks her drink like a boss.

But yeah, back to the issue at hand which is famous women appearing on television without makeup.

This is important stuff! There’s a handful of shows that have their casts frequently avoid or drastically tone down makeup. Like Grey’s Anatomy. Have you ever seen one of the episodes where the ladies are out and not in scrubs? It’s like WOAH HEY THERE ELLEN POMPEO’S FACE.

    LOOKIN’ GOOD IF VERY UNUSUAL.

But even on that show they usually have some makeup. A little eye liner and some foundation. Going completely bare just isn’t normal. So we get this idea in our head that smokey eyes, plump lips and perfect skin ARE normal and that Nina Dobrev doesn’t wake up every morning in full on face paint, she’s just born that way.

So bravo to Sara Gilbert and the women of The Talk for pulling away the veil and, maybe more importantly, openly talking about it.

And bravo to Jamie Lee Curtis for just being a BAMF.

And bravo to Aisha Tyler who is apparently one of the hosts on The Talk. I did not know that Lana from Archer was on The Talk and now I feel I need to watch it.
