Ladies Still Loving Serial Killers In Trailer For Park Chan-Wook’s Stoker

Park Chan-Wook is known for his “Vengeance” Trilogy which are three of the most wonderful and gut churningly awful films ever put to celluloid. They’re gory and horrific but not horror films or torture porn. They simply chronicle the depravity required of vengeance.

I had no idea he was making an English film or that it would be full of great actors or written by Wentworth Miller (from Prison Break!). I mean Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode and Mia Wasikowska starring in Park Chan-Wook’s first English film and it’s all about a girl infatuated with her serial killer uncle? This sounds right up my alley when I’m in a misanthropic mood!

I have built a time machine and travelled to the future to worship at this film’s alter. It looks weird and beautiful and like it will tear up your insides. Probably not the film for everyone and definitely one you’ll need to plan a happy Disney chaser to follow it with, but man watch that trailer three more times and try to tell me you’re not a little interested?

I can already see the article I’ll be writing about this movie now. It will involve Hollywood’s infatuation with studying women and their love affairs with serial killers. I will talk about how I always forget how truly excellent Nicole Kidman can be when she wants to be. And it will talk about the sexualization of abusive murderers like Matthew Goode in this film. Because guys even though his actions in this trailer make my blood run cold I still can’t stop looking at him.
