…And we’re back! Agent Carter season 2, episode 1 airs tonight! We’ll have a podcast on it up ASAP, but in the meantime, Alex and I recorded an episode talking about another awesome Marvel lady: Jessica Jones! In honor of her smash hit Netflix series, we discussed the first season of Marvel’s Jessica Jones and its importance not only in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but also as a bold depiction of a complex lady protagonist. Please note there is a trigger warning for this episode, as it discusses themes and plot points of Jessica Jones, including rape, sexual assault, abusive relationships and other types of violence. Tomboyishgeek Alex and Jill, I’ve missed your Agent Carter Declassified podcast and I am glad it is back! I like the way you both respond to the texts and issues I care about, namely strong women, gender issues, queerness, and diversity in pop culture. After watching the two-hour/episode premiere of Agent Carter, I was disappointed that it was so heteronormative, though I do like the establishment of a new love interest for Peggy. I don’t think Peggy and Sousa have any chemistry on screen, but that’s probably just me. Can’t wait to hear what you two think.
